Ching Ming holiday became the first peak of cross-provincial travel this year, and Gaoxing Hotel increased by 35% year-on-year

On the last day of the Ching Ming holiday on April 5, Ctrip released the "2021 Ctrip Spring Travel Big Data Report" and demonstrated the current strong recovery trend of the domestic tourism market through multiple data dimensions.


   Affected by the strong recovery of the domestic travel market, Ctrip's total bookings for Ching Ming Festival increased by 300% year-on-year, and many businesses reached their peak this year and even surpassed the solid foundation of the same period in 2019.


   According to data from Ctrip, domestic air ticket orders for Qingming Festival this year have achieved double-digit growth compared to 2019. Among them, Shanghai-Beijing, Beijing-Chengdu, Beijing-Shanghai, Guangzhou-Shanghai, Shanghai-Guangzhou, Shenzhen-Shanghai, Chengdu-Beijing, Shanghai-Shenzhen, Shanghai-Chengdu, and Guangzhou-Beijing are shortlisted in the TOP10 popular routes for Ching Ming Festival.


   In terms of hotels, the popularity of "hotel vacation" on the Ching Ming Festival continues. Compared with 2019, the order volume has increased by more than 20%, and it has also increased by nearly four times compared with the same period in March. The advantages of high-star hotels are even more significant, with an increase of about 35% compared to 2019.


  Surrounding hotel bookings have also increased by more than 40% compared to 2019. The TOP10 popular hotel cities are: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Suzhou.

   There is good news from the scenic area. During the Ching Ming Festival, the number of ticket bookings increased by 232% compared to 2019. Shanghai Disney Resort, Henan Museum, Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, Forbidden City, Luoyang Longmen Grottoes, Xi'an Bell Tower, Beijing Wildlife Park, Yellow Crane Tower, Badaling Great Wall, Guangzhou Changlong Wildlife World are the top 10 popular scenic spots during the Ching Ming Festival.


   On the first day of the holiday, the Ministry of Transport issued a travel forecast showing that the total traffic of the national expressway network this year will reach 151 million vehicles during the Qingming Festival, which can be described as a small holiday on wheels. Ctrip car rental data shows that the number of self-driving car rental bookings during the Ching Ming Festival has increased by 155% compared to 2019.


   In addition, the trend of high-end consumption on Tomb Sweeping Festival is obvious. The number of private group bookings increased by 260% compared to 2019; themed tours also performed well, and the number of orders increased by 127% compared to the 2019 Ching Ming holiday.


   In terms of inter-provincial travel, consumers' strong willingness to travel has promoted the Ching Ming Festival to become the first peak of inter-provincial travel this year. Two weeks before the holiday, the number of people who signed up for group tours has increased by nearly 40% compared to 2019. If the dimension is expanded to the entire March, the recovery signal will be even more pronounced, with orders for inter-provincial travel in March increasing by up to 7 times from the previous month.

As far as the industry is concerned, the current boom in the tourism market is a boost to the subsequent recovery. The upcoming May Day holiday is even expected to become the "hottest golden week in history."
